Communication is at the heart of all Sherri Lynn does for the Lord, for others and for her own personal growth. Soon, she will begin a journey that surprises even her: to earn her Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree through Olivet Nazarene University.
Radio broadcasting has been Sherri’s passion for more than a decade. Currently, she is the producer and co-host of The Brant Hansen Show, which is a daily syndicated program on more than 200 stations. Olivet’s Shine.FM has been an affiliate of this show since 2014.
She also produces and co-hosts The Brant and Sherri Oddcast, a daily podcast with more than 15 million downloads; produces Brant’s podcast, Living Unoffended; produces and hosts her own podcast, Snacks and Good Company; and produces and hosts Urban Bible Stories, a program focused on sharing Bible stories for today’s world.
In addition, Sherri wrote and produced a comedy special, The Very Funny Church Comedy Show: Together We Laugh; wrote and co-starred with American Idol winner Ruben Studdard in a stage play musical, The Bold and the Sanctified, that was performed live at Olivet in 2022 with students serving on the crew; and is the author of the books I Want To Punch You In The Face But I Love Jesus and Holy Ghost Mama. She has also hosted Ladies Day events and spoken in chapel on Olivet’s campus.
In the midst of her busy schedule, Sherri sat down with us to talk about her goals for the future — including completing her MBA degree with a concentration in communication.
Why is pursuing your MBA degree at this time in your life and career important to you?
Sherri: I love challenges! I love pushing myself to the point that my life has to change because of this choice or decision. In 2005, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies. Now, I need to know more about how the business side of communication and media works. I can be a flighty creative, so structure and boundaries help me. I gladly accept the cohort model that Olivet offers. Structure helps me get more things done.
What do you see as the distinctives of Olivet’s MBA degree program?
Sherri: I will be able to go deeper and learn more about what I’m already doing, like communication, marketing, digital marketing. I will learn how to do what I do even better. Olivet is a great university where you don’t have to check your beliefs at the door. This is a place where you can learn what you want to learn and so much more. I’m beginning classes on April 27, 2026; taking two classes for each session; and will be on track to finish the program in a year.
As you begin this MBA program, what value are you anticipating for your life?
Sherri: Honestly, I just want to learn and grow. My Mom is super supportive, like she always is. She is forever learning, and she inspires me to be a lifelong learner, too. I also hope that the members of my large extended family will be inspired to continue their education and go further in their careers.
