Olivet Nazarene University is excited to announce the addition of men’s varsity volleyball to its offering of 21 varsity athletic teams. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will soon be recruiting talented players for the inaugural team, and scholarships will be offered to qualified candidates.

After offering co-ed intramural volleyball for years, Olivet’s addition of men’s varsity volleyball is a natural expansion of ONU athletics. The sport is sponsored by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC). Additionally there are several NAIA and CCAC institutions within 250 miles of Olivet that sponsor men’s volleyball, creating competition within reasonable distances.

The team will play during the spring athletics season in McHie Arena, a 2,500-seat facility currently used by the women’s varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams as well as the men’s and women’s basketball teams.

The department of athletics will begin the search for a head coach this fall and anticipates hiring by January 2020.
