Dr. Simone Mulieri Twibell, professor in Olivet Nazarene University’s School of Theology and Christian Ministry, is the author of a new book from The Foundry Publishing. In Intimacy with God, Dr. Twibell explores prayer as an integral part of the Christian life.

“Prayer seems intimidating to many Christians,” Dr. Twibell says. “We wonder if we are doing it right, or saying the right things, or praying often enough, or in the right way.” In this new book, she emphasizes that there is absolutely no wrong way to pray. Instead, when we open ourselves to prayer, we are opening ourselves to receiving and enacting the grace of God already at work in our lives.

Examining prayer from a triune perspective, Intimacy with God invites readers to step into deeper relationship with God by considering different aspects of prayer, including seeking the will of God, interceding for others, praying in community, and listening for God’s unique voice guiding us toward kingdom purposes.

Dr. Twibell currently serves as ONU’s Director of Intercultural Studies and Ministerial Missions undergraduate degree programs. Ordained as an elder in the Church of the Nazarene in 2012, she served as a pastor in Illinois and Kentucky for 10 years and as a volunteer short-term missionary in Central America for three years prior to joining ONU’s faculty.
