On April 21, 2026, the Illinois CPA Society (ICPAS) announced its annual awards, honoring professional accountants for their excellent work. Associate professor Dave Horton ’84, CPA, who has taught accounting courses at Olivet since 2021 following a long career with the Internal Revenue Service, was named one of just three ICPAS Outstanding Educators for 2026. This is the first time a professor from the McGraw School of Business at Olivet Nazarene University has been recognized by this organization.

“I am humbled by this recognition,” Horton said. “It is a privilege to work with students at Olivet. The accounting program has seen tremendous growth over the last four years. Watching students achieve their goals, secure internships, accept jobs and continue to grow in their spiritual journey has been very rewarding. The ICPA has provided several students with scholarships and internships. They have been a great partner to work with.”
This summer, Horton and other certified public accountant (CPA) honorees will be recognized for their various contributions to the field of accounting at an awards dinner at the Metropolitan Club in downtown Chicago. Founded in 1903, ICPAS is a professional society for CPAs to further their education, enhance their knowledge about technical topics, dialogue on professional issues and network with industry leaders.
