Physical Sciences Program

Majoring in physical sciences provides students with the opportunity to benefit from an interdisciplinary science program. Working with faculty, students can design a course of study that meets the needs of their desired career. This area of study is ideal for students considering a general science career. Some of our alumni have gone on to study astronomy, geophysics, geochemistry and biogeology in graduate school programs.

Curriculum Highlights

Physical science students study chemistry, physics, biology, calculus, computer science, statistics, geology and astronomy. They also learn lab skills that will help transition to graduate school and a future career. There are opportunities for students to work as a lab assistants and to help other students with assignments and projects. Many students include astronomy as part of their degree program and get to utilize Strickler Planetarium and the Observatory in Reed Hall of Science for research projects. Additionally, students can design and conduct a research project and then potentially present their results at a professional meeting or conference.
