Olivet Nazarene University men’s soccer has claimed the No. 1 spot in the latest NAIA STADIONIC Men’s Soccer National Selection Committee Top 25 Poll, marking a significant milestone for the Tigers as they continue an undefeated start to the season.
“We are honored and proud to be recognized by the National Selection Committee as the No. 1 team in the nation at this stage of the season,” said Head Coach Jon Forsythe. “This is not just a testament to the work and dedication of this year’s players and staff. We know the success of this season is built on the foundation established last season and stretching back long before my time at Olivet.”
The Tigers have faced the nation’s toughest nonconference schedule, ranking No. 1 in strength of schedule, while maintaining an undefeated record. Their victories include wins over No. 10 Bethel University (Tenn.), No. 21 Union Commonwealth University and No. 12 University of the Cumberlands.
While the team’s national ranking reflects its competitive success, Forsythe emphasized that the program’s purpose extends beyond wins and losses.
“While competitive excellence is one objective of our program, we see it as a byproduct of our mission: creating a team of young men who take ownership of their responsibilities, grow in their character and experience Christ-like transformation in the brotherhood of our program.”
The Tigers will look to maintain their momentum with two upcoming home matches. Olivet will host the University of St. Francis (Ill.) on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m., followed by a matchup against Holy Cross College on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m. The match against Holy Cross will also serve as Senior Night.
