Olivet Nazarene University hosts Scholar Week every spring to showcase the academic accomplishments that students and faculty members have achieved through their research endeavors. This annual tradition, which began as a single day of presentations in 2012, has expanded to a week-long event, giving valuable space to Olivetians to share information and hopefully, to spark new ideas.

This year, during Scholar Week, April 13–17, 114 student and faculty presenters will share their research on a dynamic range of topics including a meta-analysis of urban planning practices; the evolution of trauma theory and its portrayal in theatre; design of a non-invasive blood glucometer; Islamic identity in the Middle Ages; language and culture in communication; factors influencing police officers’ access to mental health services; the ONU SAE Baja design; and the release of the 2026 TYGR — an annual student-edited art and literary journal.

In early spring each year, students and faculty are encouraged to submit applications to present about their research process and findings during Scholar Week. These projects stem from departmental research, advanced classroom queries, University Honors Program capstone explorations, study abroad experiences and personal curiosity — all with the goal of engaging peers and the public on topics that are relevant to the human experience, but which might not come up in general daily conversations.

In addition to providing an on-campus channel to showcase student scholarship, Scholar Week provides an opportunity for faculty members to present individual and collaborative projects which highlight their ongoing work in their particular subject matter expertise.

This year, presenters will showcase their studies through individual and group presentations covering research updates and discoveries, as well as panel discussions. All presentations are free to attend and everyone is welcome to come listen and engage with the presenters. The majority of the presentations will take place in Benner Library, in the Fishbowl.
