Course Descriptions

This course explores the criminal justice system’s response to the growing threat of cybercrime. Students will examine cyber offenses such as hacking, identity theft, online fraud and exploitation, with an emphasis on investigation, prosecution and prevention. Key topics include cyber law, digital forensics, ethical challenges and the organizational impact of cybercrime. Designed for graduate students in leadership and business programs with criminal justice concentration, this course prepares future leaders to collaborate effectively with law enforcement and ensure digital accountability in organizations.

This course examines the foundations of disaster preparedness and emergency management through the lens of strategic leadership and organizational coordination. Students will explore the roles and responsibilities of criminal justice agencies within broader emergency response systems, including law enforcement, emergency services and interagency networks.

Topics include FEMA and Homeland Security frameworks, the Incident Command System (ICS), Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP), crisis communication, ethical decision making and the political and legal dynamics of emergency response. Case studies and simulation-based learning will provide practical experience in crisis leadership.

This course explores the intersection of public policy, crime and organizational leadership. Students will examine how criminology theory shapes public policy and how those policies, in turn, impact justice outcomes and operational practices within law enforcement, courts and corrections.

The course emphasizes the strategic role of leaders in developing, influencing and evaluating criminal justice policy. Using real-world case studies, policy analysis and theory-to-practice applications students will critically assess contemporary issues such as sentencing reform, policing strategies and community safety initiatives.
