Examples of Good News Stories:

• Shine.FM received formal recognition from the Illinois House of Representatives for its quick and impactful response following the devastating storms that impacted Kankakee County on March 10, 2026. They provided critical resources, organized volunteer efforts and uplifted spirits through a unique way. Through their on-air broadcasting, they were able to keep the public informed of up-to-date needs and served as a drop-off location for supplies. This was a joint effort between this ministry and its dedicated audience. 
• The Rittmanic-Bailey Law Enforcement Scholarship was established and reflects the power of community collaboration in shaping the next generation of criminal justice professionals. Established in April through the generosity of local partners, families, foundations and law enforcement organizations, the scholarship honors the legacy of Sgt. Marlene Rittmanic and supports the future of students committed to serving others. It embodies the strong partnership between Olivet Nazarene University and the many agencies, organizations and community members who invest their time, expertise and resources in student success. By easing financial barriers and encouraging careers in law enforcement and criminal justice, the scholarship serves as a lasting example of how a community can come together to honor sacrifice, inspire service and create opportunities for future leaders.
