Robert Evans

Adjunct Clarinet Professor & Director of the Symphonic Band


Robert Evans received his Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music Education degrees from Northwestern University where he was a conducting student of John Paynter. He is currently an Adjunct Clarinet professor and the Director of the Symphonic Band at Olivet Nazarene University. Prior to coming to Olivet, he was Band Director at Oakton Community College, Homewood-Flossmoor High School and LaSalle-Peru High School.  He has completed the coursework for the Doctor of Education degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. 

Mr. Evans became Principal Clarinet with the Kankakee Valley Symphonc Orchestra in the fall of 2011. His primary teachers have been Robert Marcellus, Clark Brody, Jerome Stowell and Fred Ormand. He has also performed as Principal Clarinet with Northshore Concert Band, the Medalist Concert Band and the Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra and is an IMEA All-State clarinet adjudicator. He is also a Professional Piano Technician serving northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana. 

Mr. Evans is a member of the National Association for Music Education, Illinois Music Educators Association, Piano Technicians Guild, American School Band Directors Association, International Clarinet Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Pi Kappa Lambda. 

He lives in Bourbonnais with his wife and fellow clarinetist, Katherine.  They are the parents of Sarah (Mike) and John (Robin) and the proud grandparents of Carys, Bryn, Bronwyn, Ffion, Owen, Gwen, and Rowan.
