Olivet business students who choose to concentrate in Philanthropy /Not-for-Profit study the foundations of fundraising, administration and supervision of human services, small business management, and more.
Additionally, students benefit from the strong emphasis on grant writing and a required internship.
Student Philanthropy Council
The Student Philanthropy Council (SPC) exists at Olivet to provide meaningful ways to educate and engage students in philanthropy, and to develop students who graduate as philanthropic leaders in their respective communities. Students who participate in SPC gain knowledge, experience and leadership through their involvement with the Grant, Development, Recognition and Student 4 Committees.
Some of the council events include Philanthropy Speaks (a panel discussion to educate and inspire students to live generously featuring local community leaders); Scholarship Start Day (celebrating when tuition stops and scholarships start taking effect thanks to donors); and the annual grant cycle (awarding mini grants to fund student-led projects).
