The Olivet Seal

Introducing the 2023 Olivet Christmas Ornament. Manufactured by the creators of the Official White House Christmas Ornament, this year’s piece features the Olivet Seal. The current University Seal was created in 1986 by art professor Dr. Donald Royal (1949-2022) as part of a promotional rebranding. The original version of the seal was in use from 1940-1986 created by student Paul Hubbart ’47. The seal was unveiled during the visit of U.S. Secretary of Transportation, Elizabeth Hanford Dole, in December of 1986.

Etched on the seal for over 83 years are three symbols.

The dove symbolizes the presence of the Holy Spirit.

The lamp represents our commitment to lifelong learning.

The open Bible is a reminder for us to know of truth.

Let this be our prayer this Christmas season, that we would sense the work of the Holy Spirit, grow in knowledge and understanding, and always seek out truth.

Order the ornament today with a new $50 donation. You will receive a $35 giving receipt and your donation will go to The Olivet Fund. Please call the Alumni Office with any questions, 815-939-5258.
