Employers met face to face with 100 Olivet Nazarene University engineering and computer science students during the 2018 Martin D. Walker School of Engineering and Technology Career Fair on campus. Representing the military, government, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, sales, production, healthcare and other sectors, they provided information and accepted résumés while interacting with students.

“We are looking for interns and employees while we are here,” said Anan Subramanian, P.E., an electrical engineer with Nucor Steel Kankakee, Inc. “We enjoy working with Olivet students because they have a desire to understand and excitement about what they’re doing.”

Kiana Paden, a senior majoring in information systems, was seeking an internship with a local company. “I’m excited to be here because there are employers who want to meet us,” she said. “As students, we’re learning more about how to present ourselves. Everyone is kind of nervous, but we can’t let our nerves get to us.”

McKenzie Goselin — a 2018 engineering graduate from Olivet who is now a process engineer with CSL Behring in Kankakee — enjoyed meeting with students at the Career Fair. Her internship with CSL solidified her desire to work with a pharmaceutical company, and she is thriving as a full-time member of the CSL team.

“Olivet students are very professional, ready to work and adapt well to our corporate culture,” said Jacqueline Hawkins, CSL’s HR director. “They are interested and curious, and they bring a lot of value to our team.”
