Tiger women’s track and field team captures eighth consecutive CCAC outdoor championship

Eight in a row. That’s how many Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) titles the Olivet Nazarene University Tiger women’s track and field team has achieved.

Eight in a row. That’s how many Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) titles the Olivet Nazarene University Tiger women’s track and field team has achieved. With the leadership of Head Coach Mike McDowell and his coaching staff, the team dominated from start to finish at the 2017 competition on May 5–6. The Tigers picked up gold place finishes in eight events, and added two more individual qualifiers to the NAIA Outdoor Championships and two relays.

Olivet’s team compiled 264 total points over the two-day event. The next closest competitor was Saint Ambrose University (Iowa) with 204. The University of St. Francis (Illinois) finished third with 171 in the 10-team field. Rounding out the top five were Calumet College of St. Joseph (Indiana) with 48 and Trinity Christian College (Illinois) with 42.

On May 11–12, the Tigers have one more chance to improve their qualification and add new before the upcoming NAIA Championships. They will compete at the Dr. Keeler Invitational, hosted by North Central College (Illinois), on May 11–12.

Pole Vault
Savannah Ko (sophomore, Lenexa, Kansas), first place (3.19m/10′ 5.5″)

800m Run
Alexa Beezhold (junior, St. John, Indiana), first place (2:13.70)

1500m Run
Alexa Beezhold, first place (94:40.75)

5000m Run
Sarah Ray (senior, Warsaw, Indiana), first place (18:03.90)
