Coming off a thrilling 48-42 overtime road win against Taylor University in Indiana, the ONU Tiger football team returns home to Ward field on Saturday.
For this year’s home opener, Olivet Nazarene University’s Tigers will host Madonna University’s Crusaders. The Tigers hope to continue their winning streak against the Crusaders, having secured victories in this matchup both of the last 2 seasons.
Second-year Head Coach Avante Mitchell and his staff have been eagerly anticipating this game.
“There’s nothing like playing your first home game in front of friends and family at Ward Field,” Mitchell said. “There’s an intensity and energy to the place. The fans are loud, and the band and cheerleaders create a great game day experience. We’ll be playing this game under the lights, which makes for an amazing atmosphere. Taking the field in that environment is amazing! This year, Olivet’s ROTC program will have an active role, and there will be fireworks after the game.”
Mitchell added, “This will be our second annual White Out game. We’re encouraging all fans to wear white and we’ll be giving away White Out t-shirts to the first 1,000 fans to arrive at the gate. We’re excited to see our students, families, faculty, staff and community for this White Out game!”
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CDT on Saturday, September 6, at Ward Field on the campus of Olivet Nazarene University. Tickets ($10 for adults, $7 for youth and seniors) are available at onutigers.com or at the gate.
