Olivet Tiger Jalon Simpson posts top mark in NAIA competition

A winning javelin throw qualifies this Tiger for NAIA National Championships.

Jalon Simpson saved the best for last, posting the top mark in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) with his last attempt in the javelin event on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at the Greenville College (Illinois) Selects. His winning throw of 64.42m (211′ 4″) automatically qualifies him for NAIA National Championships in May. Jalon is a sophomore, majoring in sport management.

The Olivet Nazarene University men’s track and field team put together an impressive outing that day, despite the rains, winds and unseasonably cold temperatures. The Tigers finished second in the field of 16 teams — including Washington University (Missouri) and Monmouth College (Illinois).
