Every two years, the Church of the Nazarene hosts a series of Pastors and Leaders Conferences (PALCON) across the United States. These regionally based gatherings invite pastors and church leaders to connect and reset, typically on the off years from the quadrennial General Assembly conventions.
The overarching theme for this year’s conference is “One Heart — Blessing, Bringing, Becoming.” Plenary sessions will feature times of worship, as well as teaching from denominational leaders including Filimão Chambo, Jenna Luoto, Julie O’Hara, Jeff Stark and Althea Taylor.
In addition to the plenary sessions, distinct programming for personal spiritual formation has been planned, including solitude walks in the natural prairie at Perry Farm, prayer stations in Kelley Prayer Chapel and around campus throughout the event, and afterglow events after each evening service for fellowship and networking.
Anne Whalen, director of Church Relations and one of the key organizers of the PALCON event at Olivet, says that the goal is for the conference to have a retreat-like feel.
“Olivet’s PALCON is intended to be a refreshing, equipping time for pastors and leaders. Rather than coming, sitting and absorbing lots of information, we want to offer intentional times of connection with God.”
“We plan to utilize campus amenities such as the swimming pool and rock wall [in the Perry Center] and we will offer some athletic activities including pickle ball and three-on-three basketball,” Anne adds. “We also plan to have licensed counselors at the event to meet with participants one-on-one for confidential counseling. “
Participants will be able to select topical sessions based on their individual interests, so conference schedules can be tailored to each person’s preferences and needs.
This year, Olivet is also offering PALCON Kids, a special programming track for kids in first through sixth grade. Kids will attend their own sessions with teaching and worship, then also engage in activities with various departments and amenities across campus. Teens are also encouraged to attend with their families, and there will be sessions and recreational activities specifically for teenagers as well.
Meals and lodging options for PALCON are available on campus, but participants can alternately opt to stay in a local hotel. A room block has been reserved at Holiday Inn & Suites in Bourbonnais. The group code is 18A.
Registration for PALCON 2026 opens on February 15. Visit palcon.org for more information.
