On June 1, more than 80 alumni and friends gathered at Westside Church of the Nazarene in Indianapolis, Indiana, for a special Olivet Sunday celebration. The morning began with breakfast and fellowship, setting the tone for a meaningful time of connection and worship.
During the service, attendees heard from several Olivet representatives and alumni, including Stan Martin ’74 (advancement officer), Lowell Short ’79 (ONU Foundation Board member), Erika Moeschke ’12 (senior director of Alumni Relations) and University President Dr. Gregg Chenoweth ’90. Alumna Cati Lingle ’93 also offered a special music selection that added a reflective and heartfelt moment to the gathering.
Each speaker shared personal reflections on their Olivet experience and the University’s lasting impact on their lives. Dr. Cassie Mecklenburg ’03 (Alumni Board member) offered an inspiring message, highlighting the profound role Olivet played in her own journey:
“College is not only transitional, as important as that is,” Cassie said. “It was also transformational, and in my opinion, there is no better place to ‘be transformed’ than Olivet Nazarene University. To Olivet, my Olivet, our Olivet, I’ll be forever grateful.”
Dr. Chenoweth also provided updates from campus, shared stories of student transformation and delivered the Sunday message focused on imagination and faith.
This gathering marked the kickoff of several university-hosted meals and events happening across the Indianapolis area this summer.
