Professor Jeanette Martinson has been a dedicated educator in the Department of Behavioral Sciences at Olivet Nazarene University for over two decades, transitioning from long-time adjunct faculty to her current role as an affiliate professor. A two-time Olivet alumna, she earned her B.A. in Elementary Education in 1987 and her M.A. in Licensed Clinical Professional Counseling in 1999.
Her extensive clinical background includes serving as a County Mental Health Pre-Assessment Screener, managing a private practice supporting individuals and families and collaborating with local hospitals and intermediate care facilities (ICFs) in psycho-social rehabilitation programs. At Olivet, Professor Martinson teaches Introduction to Psychology, Child Developmental Psychology, Adolescent and Adult Developmental Psychology and Psychotherapy, in addition to supervising students in community practicum placements.
Jeanette met her husband, Jay—also an Olivet professor—during their undergraduate studies. All three of their children have attended Olivet: TJ is a professor at Murray State University, Lucy is a first-year medical student, and Tad is set to graduate from Olivet in May 2027. Outside of academia, Jeanette enjoys spending time with her granddaughter, traveling and cheering on the Boston Red Sox and Green Bay Packers.
