Dr. Figus joined Olivet’s full-time faculty in 2019 as chair of the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences and a professor. She teaches courses in architectural and retail management. From 2000 to 2004, she was an adjunct professor at Olivet, teaching Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) for interior design.

Two of her outstanding career accomplishments are the Project Management Professional (P.M.P) Certification from the Project Management Institute and completion of coursework as a student of the Harvard University Graduate School of Education Programs in Professional Education.

Dr. Figus’ professional experience includes four years in civil engineering and 21 years in higher education teaching and administration. She has led occupational and adult educational programs, supervised research projects, and led successful budget development and fiscal management activities. 

She is a Watermark Insights Knowledge Ambassador and a member of the Project Management Institute, Association for the Assessment of Learning in Higher Education, Chicago Area Assessment Group, Society for Technology in Education, and Kankakee Community College Welding Technology Advisory Board.

In her leisure time, Dr. Figus enjoys cooking, fishing and photography. She is married to Eddie and is “Bonus Mom” to his daughter, Reese.
