Commonly Asked Questions

Yes. JumpStart is for all first-year students. We’d love for you to come to the Perry Student Life and Recreation Center Saturday afternoon of JumpStart. We’ll have several of our campus partner offices, including Registrar, Academic Support, Public Safety and many more, set up in the lobby to assist you with any questions or concerns. We’ll then have a gathering where you can connect with other commuter students that will lead into our opening session for all first-year students and families, “Welcome Home.”  There will be other mandatory sessions on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday that all first-year students will attend as well.

Fall sports teams will adjust their schedules so athletes can attend JumpStart. Athletes are expected to attend mandatory sessions on Sunday afternoon, Monday morning and Tuesday morning.

On Monday and Tuesday morning, first-year students will sit in numbered groups that correlate to their First Year Seminar section. This information can be found in Canvas, and we’ll have event staff available to help students get that information. Event staff will have signage with JumpStart Group Numbers and students will find their number and sit with their section.

Parents and supporters are encouraged to join their students for our Welcome Session on Saturday afternoon and our two Sunday morning events: an informative and helpful session for parents and supporters on what to expect from your student during their first semester at college, and a worship service for first-year students and families.

There are many local hotels available. Check out Area Hotels! Students can and are encouraged to stay in their new university housing.

Classes begin on Wednesday, August 26th

Upperclassmen may begin moving in no earlier than Saturday, August 22 at 1pm at their assigned university housing.
