Announcing the return of LAFSC for Spring 2022
The Los Angeles Film Studies Center is officially relaunching on the ground in Los Angeles for the Spring of 2022, with the goal of running LAFSC perpetually thereafter because of a partnership between Olivet and the Council of Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU). We are thrilled to announce that after a year and a half of non-operation due to the pandemic.
The program will be a partnership between the CCCU and Olivet Nazarene University, operating under the same consortium agreement between CCCU and sending institutions as before, with ONU administrating.
Faculty and staff in the program are industry professionals who either previously worked with LAFSC, are alumni of the program or both! The curriculum, with some slight updates and modifications, will resume in order to accommodate sending institutions who have built LAFSC into their degree tracks.
As before, students will take part in in-person, three-day-a-week internships and will participate in the following core courses:
- Faith and Artistic Development (3 credits)
- Hollywood Production Workshop (3 credits)
- Inside Hollywood (6 credits)
Additionally, students will choose from the following electives:
- Visual Storytelling (3 credits)
- Professional Screenwriting (3 credits)
See You in LA!
Details are still being finalized, but the current, best indication is that students will also utilize all of the same LAFSC facilities and equipment as previous semesters and live in Park La Brea where previous LAFSC students have been housed.
We can't wait to welcome you and your students back to a one-of-a-kind, life-changing, faith-affirming, career-launching experience. For more information on the program or how to apply contact Program Director, Chris Retts.
