Regardless of the style, Olivet’s Worship Arts program prepares future worship leaders and musicians for ministry in the local and global Church. Olivet offers many outlets for students to perform. With student-led bands, and numerous opportunities for music in worship on campus, hundreds participate in church services and concerts each week.

For those whose calling extends beyond the local church community, numerous opportunities exist to serve as musical missionaries. These roles not only allow you to share your musical talents but also to spread the gospel and build relationships globally. The day-to-day functions and expectations may vary depending on the organization and the mission’s purpose, but here are some typical activities:

  • Performing concerts and sharing the gospel: Engage in musical performances that double as evangelistic opportunities.
  • Spreading the word: Whatever area you’re called into, a focused outreach effort must be a part of serving the church.
  • Community service and relationship-building: Utilize your time to build trust and meaningful connections within the community through various service activities.

By combining rigorous preparation with real-world experience, students are well-equipped to take on these diverse roles, making a global impact through their musical ministry.

Organ lessons are offered for those who are interested. With Olivet’s Ruffatti pipe organ located in Centennial Chapel, ONU organ students have a state-of-the art instrument on which to perform.

Ministry Teams

The University Ministry Teams are comprised of students who are servant leaders with a heart for worship and a passion for spreading the Gospel across Olivet’s four-state region. Worship leaders are often considered leaders in the church and are therefore expected to encourage, support, and serve those in need. Establishing a routine and lifestyle that embodies a heart of service to your community is not only essential to the church, but also to the calling of Christ.

This profound sense of duty and compassion is what distinguishes effective worship leaders. They don’t just lead songs; they lead lives that exemplify Christ’s teachings, fostering a community built on mutual support and love. This commitment to service and community engagement ensures that the Gospel is not only preached but also lived out in tangible ways that resonate with congregations.

By integrating these principles, the University Ministry Teams ensure that their mission extends beyond the walls of the church, reaching into the heart of the community and embodying the true spirit of worship and service.
