Interior design students learn a breadth of knowledge — space planning, architectural design, writing project specifications, furniture, lighting, art, flooring, paint, wall coverings and so much more. To utilize this knowledge, they understand that people desire spaces to promote wellness, inspiration and sustainability.

Ideal Location

Olivet is located less than 60 miles from Chicago’s Merchandise Mart and 350 West Mart Center, home to 120 wholesale showrooms. Students experience the Mart through workshops, seminars and projects and have opportunities to present their work to professionals.

Olivet Nazarene University’s interior design program is affiliated with the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA). This affiliation provides students professional development opportunities to network and learn. NKBA also provides scholarships and has great resources for students and professionals.

Real Life Experience

Every year, Olivet interior design students work with real clients from the local community to compete for awards in the Ugly Kitchen Contest. Those entering the competition receive valuable experience and winners receive cash prizes.
