Dr. Belcher-Rankin has been teaching in the Department of English and Modern Languages at Olivet Nazarene University since 1997. She teaches a variety of literature courses, including those in her chosen field of American literature, as well as upper division courses such as literary criticism and the novel.

During the academic year 2005-2006, having been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant, Dr. Belcher-Rankin taught American literature at the University of Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso, Africa. She continues to be active in promoting good will through the Fulbright program, both by creating connections between University of Ouagadougou and Olivet Nazarene University and by speaking for various organizations and churches about both academic and religious life in Burkina Faso.

Having had a first career as a high school English teacher, Dr. Belcher-Rankin is actively involved in English education through her membership in several professional organizations and by her teaching and mentoring two cohorts of master's level English education students at ONU.
