Dr. Jerry Pierce, Adjunct Professor for Olivet Online, has worked for Walt Disney Entertainment for the past 16 years as a Performer, Guest Experience Manager, Area Manager, and currently a Project Manager for Magic Kingdom Entertainment.
He began teaching 25 years ago in the Metropolitan Nashville School District; teaching middle school and mentoring Student Teachers. He has always considered it a privilege to be able to share in a student’s learning journey. Jerry believes there is no greater feeling than seeing someone achieve understanding and find success with a new skill or concept. He is humbled at the opportunity to share a part in this experience with my students.
Coming from the corporate world, there are few times that Jerry has had the opportunity to share his faith and or discuss issues, concepts, or ideas with a Christian perspective. Olivet provides this opportunity for him and he is truly grateful for the support of Olivet Online for allowing its instructors to not only share their passion for the subject matter, but his love for Christ and the ability to teach with a focus on Christian values.
Jerry has the opportunity to work with hundreds of Disney Cast Members on a daily basis. These are individuals who are responsible for excellence in performance and meeting extremely high standards in order to provide the ultimate entertainment experience for Guests of Walt Disney World. God has enabled him to not only view these Cast Members as individuals; recognizing that each one comes from a unique background, has their own circumstances and challenges, and has value that adds to the overall success of the organization, but has on many occasions allowed him to witness and care for these wonderful people through challenging times in their lives. Jerry believes God has opened the door at Olivet for him for the same purpose; allowing him to see students in his courses as individuals and helping him to relate to them on a personal level.
Jerry lives in the Orlando, FL area with his wife of 25 years, and two sons (ages 12 and 22).
