Jerry Cohagan

With a Master of Arts in Theatre Production and more than 35 years of experience in the performing arts, Professor Cohagan serves as Olivet's theatre director. In 2012, he was certified as an instructor for the Meisner acting technique. In 2013, Jerry was one of a handful of actors invited by Larry Silverberg, the world-renowned teacher and founder of The True Acting Institute, to perform in a Meisner showcase at the Orlando Repertory Theatre in Florida. Along with his teaching and directing duties, he continues to do commercial work throughout the Midwest.

He gained national recognition as one-half of the Christian comedy team Hicks & Cohagan. He has authored more than 20 books of dramatic sketches and plays, and has directed and appeared in many productions. He was the co-host of "Gospel Jubilee" on TNN for one year and also a contributing columnist for several periodicals.

Among his honors, he received Olivet's Faculty Member of the Year Award in 2015. He has been recognized as Alumnus of the Year by Northwest Nazarene University. He received the Evangelical Press Association award for his contributions in humorous writing. And he is the recipient of an honorary Dove Award from the Gospel Music Association for his years of contribution to the arts.
