The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree with a concentration in hospitality or minor in Family and Consumer Sciences is designed for the student desiring a broad knowledge of the field of FACS. Students who complete the full degree are required to minor in Business.

The Family and Consumer Sciences Hospitality concentration become experts in event planning and food service. Students study nutrition, consumer economics, sociology of the family, professionalism, and more. 

A five-hour internship is required for this program. Olivet students have completed internships with a variety of local and national companies, including: Sunrise Health Foods, Chic Weddings Inc., University of Illinois Extension Service, and more.

 
 
 

Internship Opportunities

Olivet students have worked for a variety of local and national companies, including Comfort Inn, Sodexo Food Service, and Spot Light Meetings and Events, Inc. Internships are introductory-level positions, often paid and have resulted in full-time jobs.

Diane Richardson

When discussing her students, Diane Richardson has no trouble bragging about their accomplishments and how Olivet has contributed to their success. She teaches courses in interior design, fashion merchandising and education. Olivet honored her in 2003 with the Faculty Member of the Year Award.
