Professor Blahnik joined Olivet's full-time faculty and athletics coaching staff in 2012. He teaches courses in coaching and wellness. He is also head coach for Tiger men's soccer.

In 2014, he received the honor of Coach of the Year from the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC). Under his leadership, the Tigers were CCAC Regular Season Champions (2014) and Tournament Champions (2012, 2013 and 2014). He is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Soccer is a big part of Professor Blahnik's leisure time also. He formed the Kankakee Goalkeeping Academy, a goalkeeping specific soccer club for boys/girls of all ages in Kankakee County, Illinois.

He enjoys kayaking and biking in northern Michigan with his wife, Karlynn, and their son, Brek. An ONU graduate and former Tiger tennis player, Karlynn is currently a kindergarten teacher in Bradley, Illinois.
