Courtney Brown

Assistant Professor
College of Arts and Sciences
M.A. (English), 2009, Arcadia University
B.A. (Psychology), 2003, Olivet Nazarene University

Professor Brown joined Olivet's full-time faculty in 2015. She teaches writing and composition.

Before teaching at Olivet, she taught for two and one-half years at Korea Nazarene University. She also worked as a freelance writer and editor for three years.

Her studies for her master's degree included a summer in the selective SUISS (Scottish Universities International Summer School) program through the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. As a top English major, she was in high demand as a research assistant among professors in her department who were publishing papers and articles.

In 2011, Professor Brown's short play, "Best Laid Plans," was a contest finalist and also performed in the Valley Repertory Company's annual 15-minute play festival in Connecticut. She has written articles for a variety of publications, including "Teachers of Vision" and "The Lookout."

A lover of good stories, she equally enjoys reading, watching or writing them. And combining any piece of that with travel puts her firmly in her element.
