Favorite class at Olivet: My favorite classes at ONU were Philosophy of Human Communication (a.k.a. "Rhetoric") and Communication Theory - both with Dr. BPT. These were two of the hardest classes that communication majors have to take, but I absolutely loved them. Dr. BPT is incredibly smart and the content of her classes is both challenging and fascinating!
Best Olivet memory: Getting to go to the World Series for softball my senior year is one of my top memories of my time at Olivet. I will never forget the moment we won the final game of nationals, which qualified us for the World Series. It's a moment I will look back on for years to come, remembering both the hard work it took to get there and the friendships that my teammates and I built along the way.
Hobbies: I absolutely love reading; some of my favorite genres to read are thrillers, mysteries, and science fiction. My friends and I love playing board games like One Night Werewolf and Code Names, although things can get pretty competitive! I also enjoy staying active through sports and the gym.
Favorite campus tradition: One of my favorite campus traditions is Ollies Follies. It is such a fun way to kick of the school year, get to hang out with friends, and meet new people. The Wacky Games are probably the highlight, as they include some of the most random, messy games you can think of.
Favorite thing to do in Bourbonnais: Thrift shopping is definitely one of my favorite things to do in Bourbonnais. Throughout college, my friends and I loved browsing the racks at Goodwill and Sequels, and it was always a challenge to see who ended up with the best deals.
Favorite restaurant in town: If you like oriental food, particularly sushi, one of my favorite spots to go is Koi Asian Bistro. They have phenomenal sushi rolls
Advice for new students: Challenge yourself. College is not easy, and it will naturally produce many challenges for you. Don't be afraid to get outside of your comfort zone. As cliché as that sounds, it is so true. You'll regret most the opportunities you didn't take to meet new people and make new friends, so don't be afraid to be uncomfortable.
Favorite Bible verse: Lamentations 3:21-23, "Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."
