As a campus community that is distinctly Christian, our desire is to make the worship of God central to who we are. Our belief is that faith in Jesus Christ shapes us at every level and is directly connected to our educational, social and spiritual development. For this reason we seek to honor God in everything we do.
The Office of Spiritual Development promotes the growth of Christian character and grace by providing avenues of service to God, the community and the world-at-large. This growth is nurtured through chapel services, discipleship groups and service organizations. The purpose is to lead the way of spiritual development, in collaboration with all departments. Olivet is a community that seeks to make “Education with a Christian Purpose” a reality.
Student Ministries
Students of Olivet serve their peers, community and churches throughout our region in a variety of ministry organizations. These groups are all coordinated through the Office of Spiritual Development, working in tandem with the student-led Spiritual Life Council.
Chapel and Community Worship
Chapel services, in partnership with area local churches, offer students, faculty and staff members the opportunity to worship together. The close-knit nature of our community allows our students to engage with faculty and staff on a regular basis in church as well in the surrounding area.
Chapel services play a significant role in the lives of the campus community, but do not serve to function as a local church. As a result, students are encouraged to connect with a local church while here. This valuable partnership with local churches aids in achieving the mutual goal of incorporating the teachings of Jesus Christ into the everyday lives of our students, faculty and staff.
Missions in Action
The MIA program is coordinated within the Office of Spiritual Development. Students, faculty and staff members are given opportunities to use their passion, talents and education in service to Jesus Christ all over the world. Approximately 10 teams are sent throughout the year to various world areas such as Argentina, Kenya, Thailand, Haiti and Guyana.
