Degree Requirements

Associate and Bachelor’s degrees offered by the University are awarded upon completion of the appropriate curriculum and upon recommendation of the faculty. The following general requirements apply to all degrees:

  1. A minimum of 64 semester hours for associate degrees or 128 semester hours for bachelor’s degrees.
  2. A minimum grade point average of 2.0 ('C').
  3. A minimum of 40 hours of credit in upper-division courses (numbered 300 or above) for bachelor’s degrees.
  4. Completion of the general education requirements for the respective degree; the student taking the Bachelor of Arts degree must complete foreign language.
  5. Completion of a major program of study as specified by the College, School, or Department to which the major belongs.
  6. Completion of supporting courses as specified by the major department.


The following guide sheets specify course requirements for the various programs of study offered at Olivet Nazarene University. Degree codes identify the programs as A.A.S. – Associate of Applied Science; B.A. – Bachelor of Arts; B.M. – Bachelor of Music; B.S. – Bachelor of Science; B.S.N. – Bachelor of Science in Nursing; and B.S.W. – Bachelor of Social Work.
