Counseling Services

Mission Statement

The mission of the ONU Counseling Center is to provide personal counseling for the purpose of evaluating, exploring, educating, equipping, and empowering students for personal, academic, and Christian growth. The therapeutic process is designed to assist students in coping with mental, emotional, educational, social, cultural, and behavioral concerns. Staff members, who are professionally sound and Christ-centered, work to develop a supportive and nonjudgmental environment for the betterment of all students.

Every student who requests counseling services is guaranteed an initial evaluation session and a feedback session. However, not all students are guaranteed to receive ongoing therapy services. There are some problem areas that are beyond the resources and/or training of a university counseling center. The Counseling Center and therapists reserve the right to refer students to services outside Olivet if they feel it is in the client’s best interest. We do not take court- ordered referrals.
