Associated Student Council: Every Olivetian carrying seven academic hours or more is a member of the Associated Student Council (ASC). He/She pays an activity fee each semester from which he/she receives services such as the University newspaper and yearbook, and free admission to intercollegiate sports activities (except for tournament and Homecoming games). The Associated Student Council is organized to plan and coordinate student activities and represent student viewpoints to other groups.

Aurora is the yearbook publication edited and published each year by a student staff. The editor is appointed by the Editorial Selection Committee. All students are encouraged to assist in the publication. College Publications course credit can be earned by students enrolled in course ENG 242: College Publications.

Departmental Clubs: The governing unit of the Associated Students of Olivet Nazarene University is the Student Council. This body is responsible, along with the University administration, for fostering wholesome social and religious activities on the campus through various academic and social clubs.

Departmental Clubs include:

Biophilic:
seeks to promote unity within the biology department, the campus of Olivet, and surrounding communities; and to promote understanding of biology and the environment.

Capitol Hill Gang: seeks to promote the fellowship of political science majors and minors. Also, to encourage political activity and debate among the students and staff at ONU to advance the awareness of global issues.

Chemistry: seeks to promote for students pursuing a chemistry degree.

Computer: seeks to encourage enthusiasm and school spirit through the use and appreciation of computers.

Criminal Justice: seeks to promote a Christ-centered experience and exemplary integrity in its members, and strives to provide opportunities for students to interact with professionals in various criminal justice related fields.

Diakonia (Social Work): seeks to serve as a fellowship for social welfare oriented students. Various activities will be sponsored in order to raise consciousness at ONU about human need.

Equestrian Club: seeks to promote unity among students who have an interest or passion for horses and to promote understanding of horsemanship.

Going Green: is devoted to conserving the resources and respecting the earth. We will promote awareness and make the option of recycling readily available on the campus of ONU.

Green Room:  is non-profit and exists to promote and instruct in theatre arts and specifically focuses on the production of stage shows and the advancement of student talent with an emphases on Christian World View and spiritual development to accompany theatrical accomplishment.

International Justice Mission: This club exists and acts in order to fulfill the Lord’s mandate of biblical justice to those who are oppressed and entangled by human trafficking.

Kappa Delta Pi (National Education Honor Society): This honor society exists to encourage and promote the continuing excellence in the education department.

Kappa Delta Rho (Family and Consumer Science Honor Society): exists as a national honor society dedicated to recognizing and encouraging excellence in scholarship, research and leadership in Family and Consumer Sciences.

Lambda Pi Eta Theta Beta (Communication Department Honor Society): exists to encourage the development and reward the accomplishments of those in the communications program.

Math:  is a community whose students share the same passion of math by participating in mathematical origami, math scavenger hunts, math movies and an annual Math Murder Mystery. No upper division math is required.

Men’s Club Volleyball: This club exists to provide an opportunity for the men of ONU to learn, participate in and compete in the sport of men’s volleyball at the collegiate level.

MuKappa (Students from International Missionary and Military Homes): This club exists to encourage the international missionary and military students at Olivet.

Multi-Ethnic Relations (MERC): exists to promote ethnic awareness and unity within the Olivet community.

National Music Teachers’ Association: exists to help future educators and community music programs learn more about being music educators and to be Christ-like influences in our communities.

National Science Teachers’ Association:  exists to promote the mission of NSTA and familiarize students with the resources provided by the association, and supply professional growth and development in science education.

Nursing Student Association:  exists to provide unity and support among the nursing student body.

Officers’ Christian Fellowship: This club exists to glorify God by uniting Christian officers and cadets for biblical fellowship and outreach, and equipping them to minister effectively in the military service.

Olivet Geological Society:  exists to provide activities with a geological orientation to students of Olivet that are both enjoyable and educational.

Phi Alpha Theta (History Honor Society):  exists to encourage and promote continuing excellence in the history department.

Pre-Law Society: exist in order to promote the awareness of law and the legal profession and to prepare ourselves for the challenges of law school and of a legal career.


    GlimmerGlass is the student newspaper. The editor is appointed by the Editorial Selection Committee and, in turn, appoints the executive staff. All students are encouraged to join the staff and be involved in reporting, writing, doing layout and working in other areas.

    Men’s Residential Life (MRL) is the organization for male residents on campus and is under the leadership of the vice president for men’s residential life and an executive council of male residence hall representatives. The main function of MRL is to provide dynamic activities for male residents, as well as work with ASC and the administration on improving campus life.

    Social Committee is chaired by the vice president for social affairs and is comprised of students from each academic class elected by class members. Social Committee’s primary annual responsibilities include Ollies Follies and the Christmas Banquet. The committee also works to enhance the school activity calendar by providing regular campus events.

    Spiritual Life Ministries exists for the Spirit-led advancement of His kingdom through service, acknowledging Christ as our foundation. To learn more about Spiritual Life ministries, click here.

    Women’s Residence Life (WRL) is an organization whose membership includes all female residents of the campus. It is under the leadership of the vice president for women’s residential life and an executive council whose officers and representatives are elected by the on-campus female residents. WRL sponsors several functions during the year in an effort to promote unity, friendship and personal development. In addition, WRL works with ASC and the administration in improving campus life.
