Orpheus Choir

Orpheus Choir, now in its eighth decade of annual performances, represents Olivet in concerts on the University’s education region (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin), and has sung at many General Assemblies of the Church of the Nazarene.

The repertoire of this select group of singers includes anthems, hymns, spirituals and contemporary compositions, representing different styles and periods of choral music. Dr. Jeff Bell ’81 has been the conductor since 1999.


Q: When are auditions for Orpheus Choir held?
A: Auditions for the choir are held at the beginning of Fall Semester, usually
the Monday and Tuesday before the first day of classes. Once accepted into the choir, students are not required to re-audition.

Q: Do I need a prepared piece for auditions?
A: No, you will not need to prepare a piece for the audition. The audition consists of a brief sight reading section.

Q: Are there fees associated with joining the ensemble:
A: Yes. Members are assessed a $20 fee each semester.
