Semester Calendar and Credit HoursThe University calendar is built on two semesters of 15 weeks. The semester hour is the unit of credit at Olivet. A semester hour is equivalent to one 50-minute class period per week for a semester. It is expected that the average student will spend two hours in preparation for each period in class. In laboratory courses a two-hour period is considered the equal of one-hour recitation or lecture period. A normal semester load is 16 semester hours. A minimum of 128 semester hours is required for graduation with the bachelor’s degree. All programs feature the dimension of breadth and also the dimension of depth. |
