Strength and Conditioning

ONU varsity athletes train in a new 3500 square foot weight room. The facility has 15 power racks with full sets of metal and rubber weights at each rack, 2 sets of rubber dumbbells up to 100 pounds, 16 med balls, and a full complement of balance equipment, including stability balls and balance boards. A 1700 square-foot agility area is also part of the weight room facility.

There are Three Goals of the Varsity Weight Room:

  1. To make you a better athlete
    • We play a violent, explosive, quick game that is totally anaerobic. That is how we are going to train.
  2. Injury Prevention
    • We will train on two feet whenever possible.
    • We will train our joints in unstable environments and planes to create joint strength and flexibility.
    • We will constantly train the core and back.
  3. Team Building
    • We demand 100% effort, 100% encouragement, and 100% participation.
