Financial Aid

FAFSA

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) determines how much you are eligible for in terms of federal grants, loans and work-study funds. Illinois residents attending college in Illinois may also be eligible for a state grant. The Office of Financial Aid at Olivet encourages all students to fill out the FAFSA to see what federal aid may be available to them.

Application Options

There are currently two options for you to complete this form:
  1. FAFSA on the Web. Complete the application online by visiting the following Web sites:
    • www.pin.ed.gov: register for a PIN number at this site. This PIN number serves as your electronic signature.
    • www.fafsa.ed.gov: complete the FAFSA at this site.
  2. Paper copy of the FAFSA. Look for the paper copy at
    • Your high school guidance office
    • Your college financial aid office
    • Local public libraries

Online vs. Paper: Applications completed using FAFSA on the Web will be processed faster than paper applications. This means you will see your results faster. For a complete list of the advantages of using FAFSA on the Web, access the FAFSA Web site.

Parents of Dependent Students: The FAFSA will ask questions concerning students and the parents of dependent students. Dependent students and their parents will each need a PIN in order to submit the FAFSA.

Olivet Specific Information: The Department of Education assigns every college a school code, which allows the department to send your FAFSA results to the schools of your choice. Olivet's school code is 001741. The FAFSA can be turned in after Jan. 1. Olivet has a priority mail date of March 1 because some funds are limited. If you submit your FAFSA by March 1, any funds for which you are eligible should be available. As a general rule, turn in your application as soon as possible after Jan. 1.
