Financial Aid

Brad Thomas

Greetings!

My name is Brad Thomas and I'm the Director of New Student Financial Assistance. I work with families every day that are wrestling with college decisions. Olivet offers scholarships for academic achievement, athletics, art, and music. We also assist students with getting the most from government financial aid. I am here to help you navigate the financial aid process. Take a look around these Financial Aid pages and don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.

Each year, thousands of ONU students receive millions of dollars in financial aid. We will work with you to find a financial solution that meets your individual needs.

Based on your unique situation, you may qualify for scholarships, grants, loans, and/or work study.

APPLYING FOR FINANCIAL AID

(The following information applies to traditional undergraduate students. International students should consult the International Guide for information about financial aid. Students within the School of Graduate and Continuing Studies may click here for more information.)

STEP 1: Apply to Olivet Nazarene University

Scholarship funding is available through Olivet, for those who have applied for admission. Once you are admitted, you will receive notice of the awards for which you qualify.

STEP 2: Apply for federal and state grants

To begin the process of obtaining financial aid, fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, FAFSA. This form can be filled out online, or a print version can be obtained through any high school or college. Online application requires a PIN for both you and a parent or guardian.

FAFSA forms should be submitted as soon as possible after January 1. Some funding is limited, so for priority processing, submit the form prior to March 1. Make sure to include Olivet’s code: 001741.

You must submit a new FAFSA each year.

STEP 3: Seek out additional scholarships made available through private funding

Talk to your high school guidance counselor and explore credible Web sites like www.fastweb.com and www.brokescholar.com to learn more about the available awards. Your local library, newspaper, and community organizations are also good sources for scholarship information.

Beware of scholarship search services that may be scams or frauds. Do not pay for information or services that are provided free elsewhere.

STEP 4: Apply for student employment

Once you are a student at Olivet, you may apply for one of the many part-time jobs available on campus. Contact the Office of Counseling Services for more information.
