Olivet Nazarene University is an active participant in the new Yellow Ribbon GI Enhancement Program, designed to improve financial aid for veterans participating in the new Post-9/11 GI Bill Program.

The Post 9/11 GI Bill covers veterans’ tuition up to the amount equal to the highest in-state, public school, undergraduate tuition. The Yellow Ribbon Program will cover additional tuition costs not covered by that bill.

Olivet has voluntarily chosen to provide funds in the amount of 50 percent of the excess tuition — up to $25,000 per student per year — with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs matching the contribution to cover the remaining tuition and fees.

“While this is a voluntary program, we chose to participate in an effort to support our veterans, specifically those who have served post-9/11,” says Greg Bruner, director of financial aid.

The funds are available to traditional undergraduate students, as well as students enrolling in programs within the School of Graduate and Continuing Studies, including the University’s doctoral program.

Those who have served at least 36 months of active duty after September 10, 2001, may be eligible for the program. For more information about the program, or to apply for the program, visit the Department of Veterans Affairs Web site at www.gibill.va.gov.
