Academically talented students often learn at a different pace, hold unique interests and maintain special academic ambitions. They see different things, ask different questions, investigate novel topics and discover threads of connection.
The mission of the Olivet Honors Program is to encourage and nurture academically talented students in the integration of Christian faith and scholarship, preparing them for servant leadership in the Church and world.
Olivet's honors students take four interdisciplinary, team-taught classes on novel topics during the first two years, and in the last two years perform funded, one-on-one mentored research projects. Program highlights include:
- One-on-one mentored research with professor of student’s choice, funding provided; or study abroad opportunities during junior year
- Presentation of research at an Honors Research Symposium
- Numerous community service and cultural event opportunities
For consideration into Olivet’s Honors Program, students should:
- Complete the process for admission to Olivet
- Verify a composite ACT score of at least 30 or SAT, Math and Verbal score, of at least 1340
- Submit completed application form with required essay
- Participate in on-campus interview with two faculty members
- Phone interviews are acceptable under special circumstances.
