Family and Consumer Sciences

  • Through the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, you can pursue your interests in families, food, fashion, commercial design, children, teaching and so much more.

  • As you prepare for Christ-centered service to individuals, families and communities, you will enjoy the integrative study that this department offers.

For your learning, we’ve prepared a diverse set of specialty programs with the central mission of enhancing human health and well-being. Study dietetics, fashion merchandising, housing and environmental design, education, child development, family and community services, and/or hospitality.

With the emphasis on Christ-like professionalism, we provide the content, practice and skills you need to succeed in your chosen career. You will enjoy lasting bonds among students and with faculty that lead to lifelong relationships.

    At Olivet, you can:

    • Participate in team-building experiences. Here's the story of one group project that turned into a real world team-building experience: “Fire didn’t stop this FACS project”
    • Develop community service projects with your team.
    • Experience firsthand ways that your chosen profession provides service to others in your community.
    • Pursue your interest in event planning and production with courses in marketing, hospitality, business and communication.
    • And so much more!

Use your skills, talents and learning in completing field experiences and practicums in area hospitals, preschools, public and private elementary and secondary schools, and other settings.
