The Department of Military Science is the home of the Army Reserve Officers Training Corps program. Army ROTC offers
college students in every academic major the opportunity to learn leadership and management skills that will last a
lifetime, even as they prepare themselves for their post-collegiate careers. Students who complete the entire upper
division course of study receive a commission as second lieutenants in the United States Army and are also awarded a
minor in military science by the University.
Army ROTC accepts all majors into its ranks and offers scholarship opportunities as well. The Department of Military
Science also actively seeks nursing majors who would like to explore the possibility of caring for America’s guardians.
Special scholarship opportunities are available for nursing majors.
The Department of Military Science offers two different minors, military science and military affairs. The military affairs
minor is open to all University students. The military science minor is available for those students who complete the
requirements for a commission in the U.S. Army.
