Master of Youth Ministry
Mark Holcomb, Coordinator

Olivet Nazarene University's master's in youth ministry is set apart from similar degrees at other institutions. It provides a deep foundation and holistic approach to reaching young people for Christ. This degree focuses on youth ministry and theology, but also draws on other disciplines, broadening the skills and perspectives participants will take back to their places of ministry. Courses in youth ministry, Bible and theology are required, as well as classes from within other University disciplines, such as organizational leadership and counseling.

The first year of the M.A. will be completed on Olivet’s campus, totaling 30 hours of academic work. During the second year, education will center on a mentoring relationship with a seasoned youth professional in a local setting. Also during the second year, master's students will return to Olivet for short periods of intensive, modular courses in which individuals, along with fellow students and professors, will reflect on their actual ministry with young people. In the second year, participants will earn 15 hours of credit for the practical work and modular courses.

Leading experts in the field of youth ministry will serve as adjunct faculty in combination with Olivet's own knowledgeable, residential faculty. This combination of outside experts with Olivet's faculty, who together have served more than 40 years in youth ministry, will make your education in youth ministry uniquely effective.  With a Master of Arts in youth ministry in hand, you will be more fully equipped to serve as a guide to young people and to contribute to the ministry of the Church.
