Master of Arts: Professional Counseling

Dr. Rebecca Taylor, Director

Olivet Nazarene University’s Master of Arts: Professional Counseling program gives men and women the skills they need to be psychotherapists, marriage and family therapists, pastoral counselors, case managers, human resources specialists, consultants and a variety of other professionals. But most central to the program is a belief that these professions are first and foremost avenues of service.

We also know that you lead busy lives. Our programs are tailored to your unique needs as an adult learner. Classes meet one night per week, with additional coursework completed in collaborative learning teams. These teams meet outside of regular classroom time, typically one time per week. An entering class remains together throughout the MAPC program and this is a three year program.

The Master of Arts in Professional Counseling program is designed to enable bachelor-level graduates to obtain a master's degree in fulfillment of one of the requirements for licensure in the State of Illinois. Post graduation, graduates must complete the equivalent of two years of supervised clinical practice and pass the National Counselor Examination of the National Board for Certified Counselors in order to be fully licensed for private practice in the State of Illinois.
