ITA announces first rankings of the season; Tigers well represented

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. –Aziza Butyoi (Burundi, Bujumbura) and Aurelie Hascoet (Thann, France) found themselves ranked 14th and 15th, respectively when the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced their national rankings on Nov. 21. Butyoi and her doubles partner, Taylor Stephens (Ada, Mich.) are ranked 15th as well.

Butyoi is also ranked second in the East Region, behind Neesha Thirumalaichelvam of University of the Cumberlands. Butyoi fell to Thirumalaichelvam in the opening round of the 2012 USTA/ITA National Small College Championships earlier this fall. Hascoet is ranked third in the region in singles, while Serehpine Buchmann (Illnau, Switzerland), Stephens and Ashlan Allison (Anderson, Ind.) round out the top-20.

On the doubles side, Haschoet and Buchmann capture the top spot in the East Region, after finishing as national runners-up in the USTA/ITA National Small College Championship. Butyoi and Stephens are ranked third regionally.
