SPRING LAKE, Mich. – Olivet Nazarene University women’s soccer coach Bill Bahr is excited to announce that Samantha Rasmussen of Spring Lake, Mich. has signed a letter of intent to continue her playing career as a Tiger.
“Samantha is a quick and gritty defender that has great offensive potential as well. Samantha is a perfect fit to our team and we are excited to see her in action,” commented Bahr.
Rasmussen, a 5-5 defender was named first team All-Conference, defensive MVP and at-large district player as a member of the Calvary Christian High School team. She is also a member of the Fruitport Fire club team.
“I chose Olivet because it was the first college I visited that really resonated with my spirit. I was drawn to the beautiful campus and facilities as well as its location near Chicago,” said Rasmussen of her decision. “I was impressed with the academic vigor and the success rates of students. After meeting Coach Bahr and the girls, I knew I would be honored to play for such an awesome team. Ultimately I felt like God called me to this school.”
“I am very excited to bring on Samantha on to our squad this coming fall. She brings speed, agility, vision and skill to our back line,” continued Bahr. “She will have big shoes to fill following a class that did not allow a single goal during the conference season but the coaching staff is confident that she will do an amazing job.”
“Olivet feels like a genuine sprit filled place, where students are really living out their faith; I cannot wait to be a part of such an awesome community,” added Rasmussen.
Rasmussen plans to major in exercise science while at Olivet. She is the daughter of Erik and Amy Rasmussen.
