Tigers dominate at CCAC Invite

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Senior Gwen Holmes (Princeton, Ill.) finished first and junior Ashley Miller (Springhill, Kan.) third to help lead the Olivet Nazarene University women’s golf team to a first place team finish at the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Invitational held at Juday Golf Course on Oct. 1-2.
The Tigers dominated the field, finishing 26 strokes ahead of the University of St. Francis Ill.) who claimed second place. Robert Morris University (Ill.) finished in third with a 718, while host Holy Cross College (Ind.) posted a 752 over the two days.
Holmes shot rounds of 80 and 82 to finish at 162 and take the top medalist honor. Miller was the opening day top finisher at 79, but fell off slightly to shot 85 on day two for a 164 total and third place overall.
Sophomore Lydia Bilyeu (Fulton, Ill.) shot back-to-back rounds of 88 to finish at 176, while freshman Kelsey Fisk (Greenfield, Ind.) was just three shots back at 179, shooting rounds of 89 and 90. Senior Nora Durkin (Peotone, Ill.) shot a second round 84 to help the Tigers to the championship.
The Tigers will finish up their fall season at the two-day University of St. Francis Invitation starting on Friday, Oct. 5 at the Inwood Golf Course in Joliet, Ill.
