SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The No. 13 Olivet Nazarene University women’s basketball team pulled out its fourth consecutive win on the season against Indiana University-South Bend on Saturday, Nov. 17, taking down the Titans 94-90. IU-South Bend had pulled the score to within two late in the game, but the Tigers were able to hold on for the win.
The Tigers (4-0, 4-0) were led by 5-11 forward Ashley Wilson (Portage, Mich.). Wilson, a sophomore, finished the day with 17 points, including 9-of-10 from the free-throw line. She also pulled in seven rebounds. Junior Miranda Geever (Moline, Ill.) was right behind with 16 points.
“South Bend is a very fundamentally sound team,” said head coach Lauren Stamatis. “They are rough on the boards and always have a good game plan against us. We had a few girls step up today to make some big plays when we needed it. Our girls did a nice job maintaining composure at the end.”
Two of the players Stamatis is referring to is freshman Krystal James (Rockford, Ill.) and junior Malory Adams (Aurora, Ill.). James finished the day with a season-high 12 points, shooting 4-of-10 from behind the three point line. Adams added a season-high 10 rebounds, while contributing three steals and two blocked shots to the winning effort.
The Tigers return to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24, traveling to Roosevelt University (Ill.).
